Larry Melvin Schwartz was born on May 20, 1946 to Layart C. and Edna S. Lubke Schwartz, in Goldthwaite. He grew up in the German community of Priddy and graduated from Priddy High School in 1964 after playing many years of basketball with his fellow friends. He married Ruth Striepe on May 31, 1967 at Johnsonville Township, Minnesota. They enjoyed 51 years together and were blessed with two daughters, Shelly A. Jasek of Waco and Shannon L. Adams of Early.
Larry worked for Superior Cable for 28 years and later for TxDOT for 18 years. In addition, he enjoyed farming and ranching on his place in Early and on the home place in Priddy. His support of his church and community was very strong. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and had served in various church offices as well as singing in the choir. He had served on the Brown County Fair Board and was active with the Good Samaritan Pig Project. He was also a member of the Brown County Sheriff's Posse riding group for many years. He was also active in his support of the Early Community Fund. He was an avid supporter of his daughters and their projects, hauling steers to major shows in Ft. Worth, Houston and helping other contestants from Brown County and attending basketball games.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth, and their two daughters, Shelly Jasek (John) of Waco, Shannon Adams (Donny) of Early and four grandchildren, Abigail Jasek, Aaron Jasek, Morgan Adams and Dalton Adams. Larry was most proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and supported them.
