Wanda was born in Aiken, Texas on February 11, 1931 to Earl C. and Mabel Pyle. She graduated from Kress High School, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Wanda married the love of her life, David Randall Hodges on July 2, 1948. They had three children Randy, Kathy and Terry. Wanda worked alongside her husband at Farmer’s Gin in Edmonson, Texas. When she moved to Plainview, she enjoyed her time working at Nan’s Dress Shop and Margaret’s Jewelry.
Her favorite thing was spending time with her family and being “Nanny”. More than anything she cherished family gatherings and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda also had quite a green thumb. She enjoyed working in the yard and called it her “therapy”. She always had beautiful pots of flowers and gorgeous rose bushes. She loved the color green, she loved wearing green clothes, emerald jewelry and wished for a green Lincoln town car. She loved her sewing projects, visiting with friends and having a steady supply of her famous chocolate chip cookies for anyone who walked through the door. Wanda was also a diehard Red Raider fan and enjoyed attending games with her family and her friend, Ann Keesee. Nanny loved having her house full of family for birthdays, holidays or any reason at all. Her door was always open and you were always welcome. She was love.

Wanda was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Edmonson. Her closest lifelong friends came from there and are too many to name. Her legacy of loving, and serving others like Jesus, thrived there. She left that legacy for us all to follow.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Kathy Painter and husband Alton of Plainview, four grandchildren Matt Hodges and wife Sheryl of Keller, Mark Hodges and wife Kim of Round Rock, Blake Painter and wife Lashana of Edmonson, and Lyndie Davis and husband Garrett of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and eight great-grandchildren John David and Parker Hodges of Keller, Reed, Brooke and Kate Hodges of Round Rock, Zakry Painter of Plainview and Hadleigh and Baxter Davis of Muskogee, Oklahoma, a sister Clara Mahan of Arlington and favorite niece Cami Ferguson of Arlington

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband David Randall Hodges, two sons Randy Hodges and Terry Hodges, two brothers, Chester Pyle, Joe Pyle and a sister Mary Ruth Pruitt, and a favorite nephew Jackie Pyle.
She is remembered in love by Barby Gilbert.

Family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Edmonson P.O. Box 29, Edmonson, Texas 79032.
