Joy was born in Morehead, KY, on July 27, 1933, and graduated from Rowen County High School. She attended business school in Ashland, KY. In December, 1949, she met the love of her life, Jim, at a roller rink and moved to Mansfield three years later after they married. She worked for the Charles Ritter Co. for 37 years. She was a life member of both Eastern Star and the VFW 9943 Auxiliary, and enjoyed reading, golfing at Imperial Golf Course (now Forest Hills), country western music, particularly Conway Twitty, loved to dance and enjoyed eating out at Skyway East. Her favorite song was "Tennessee Waltz," especially as sung by Patti Page, and she chose it for her wedding on July 29, 1952. She loved traveling to Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Ella Rose Blevins; her brother, Billy Blevins; her close friend, Ruth Yarger; and her sister, Barbara Sue Barber, survives in Glasgow, KY.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S Diamond Street. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Mansfield Cemetery.
