Marcella B. Rivenes Jones, 94, of Sherman, WV, passed away on September 24, 2016, in Charleston, WV.
She was born on April 4, 1922, in Onida, SD, daughter of the late Michael Severt Rivenes and Amelia Sofia Olson Rivenes. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage.
Marcella was a member of the Ravenswood VFW Auxiliary #6669, Fannin Chapel Church in Sherman, Democrat Women’s Club, 50 years in Jackson County with the WV Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS), also a member of Sternwheelers Square Dance Group, and she established over 20 Stamp Clubs in the schools in Jackson County. She was also the Postmaster at Sherman from 1972-1992.
She is survived by her sons, Roger Jones of Charleston, WV, Kevin Jones (deceased); daughter, Deb and Mike Warrell of Camden, DE; grandchildren, Roger Keith Jones, Jr., Gina Jones Carte, Isaac S. Jones, Rebecca DeMonte, Michael Warrell, Tabetha Jones Tullius, Michael Jarrell (deceased), and Brittney Jones; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, H. O. Jones, and 15 siblings.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Don Maxson officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
