Dorothy Leora Shaffer, age 86, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019 after a lingering illness. She was a life-long member of Jefferson City Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 and 1/2 years, Earnest Shaffer; parents, Alice and W.E. Marks Sr.; sister, Margaret Gass; brothers, W.E. Marks Jr., John L. Marks, Earl Marks, and Virgil Marks.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Janice) Shaffer; grandchildren, Robbie (Joy) Shaffer, Brian Shaffer; 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Shirley (Dairl) Keith; sisters-in-law, Margie Marks and Gertrude Marks.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Friends at Solid Rock Gospel Church; Responding to His Call Ministry; special caretaker, Julie Wilder. The family would also like to thank the staff at Amedysis Hospice, for the professional care and love they provided.

Funeral service 7:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Jefferson City Church of God with Rev. Larry Dye and Rev. Roy Stell officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Monday in Jefferson Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
