Paul Sampson, 86, of Soddy-Daisy, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at a local health care facility.
He was a member of North Hamilton Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He was retired from the U.S. Forestry Service, and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P.J. Wynn and Millie Strunk; sister, Virginia Earnest.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maxine Sampson; daughters, Ruth Ann (Jim) Stewart, Marcia (David Q) Fisher, Nancy (David) Craig, Paula (Jeffery) Mallow; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Williamson & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Minister Jim Stewart and Minister David Fisher officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at McCreary Memorial Gardens in Whitley, Ky.
