She was born in New Matamoras, OH, on February 2, 1935 to the late Samuel and Laura (Pugh) Frye.
She is preceded in death by 4 sisters Elma, Verda, Flossie, and Elsie and 6 brothers Paul, Leo, Orville, Pearly, Carl, and Junior.
After graduating as the valedictorian of the Clarington High School class of 1953, Rena lived a life full of family and friends. She regularly attended the Church of Christ in Clarington, in her younger years served her community as an EMT, and also enjoyed helping with various social events through the Steelworkers Union and Democrat Central Committee. In addition to raising her two children, she loved keeping up with all of her granddaughters, gardening, canning, planning family gatherings, and creating projects around the house. She valiantly fought Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma twice, winning each battle, but lost a long debilitating fight with damage caused by a stroke, and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth E. Crawford whom she married on June 29, 1956. Other survivors include her daughter Kim (Bruce) Johnson of Kipling, Ohio; son Kevin (Paula) Crawford of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughters Mryia (Todd) Williams, Monica Drain, Kristen (Justin) Kellner, Kelci Crawford, Kia Crawford; 3 great grandchildren Kaliska Williams, Corbin Garcia, Alora Garcia; siblings Florence Longwell, Perry Frye, and Ross Frye; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 4 pm until time of services at 7 :00 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home 125 Clarinda Dr. Clarington, Ohio with Evangelist Rod Ross officiating.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
