Roger Sparks, 75, died Friday, December 21, 2018, in Lubbock. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 14, 2019, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Danny Whitehead officiating.
He was born May 22, 1943, in Gorman, Texas to Jessie Whitefield Sparks and Lowell Sparks. He moved to Big Spring from Odessa in 1971. He married Sandy Horton on January 19, 1976, in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked 44 years for Small Fishing and Rental, later Basic Energy, retiring in 2005. He was a Baptist.
Roger is survived by his wife: Sandy Sparks of Big Spring; two daughters: Gina Sue Ragan (Scott) of Midland and Diane Marie Black of Abilene; two sons: Danny Sparks of Big Spring and Michael Sparks (Amy) of Pittsburgh, Tx; four grandchildren: Gina Marie Lambert (Sean), Kortni Jeske (Austin), Tanner Ragan, and Codey Sparks six great grandchildren: Rodie Marie, Bryson, and Braleigh, Kaizely Eric, and Victoria Jeskie; and one brother: Billy Rex Sparks (Linda) of Clyde.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
