Darrell Loyd Adams was born on 14 Nov 1938 to Floyd William Adams and Mary Magdalene (Allen) Adams. He died on 03 Jan 2019 at the age of 80. He graduated from South Choctaw High School in 1957. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and Livingston State University (now The University of West Alabama) and graduated with a degree in 1962 with a degree in Business Education. In that same year, Darrell began his first teaching and coaching job at Thomasville High School in Thomasville, Alabama.
In the summer of 1962, Darrell was drafted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. Upon being discharged from the Army, he returned to teaching and coaching at Shaw High School in Mobile, Alabama.

Darrell became a sales representative for South-Western Publishing Company, a publisher of Business and Economic textbooks. He made sales in the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. During his career at the publishing company, he was honored with many awards including National Sales Representative of the Year. He was, also, honored by Livingston University by receiving the Gold Key Award. He eventually was promoted to National Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing with the South-Western Publishing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, two sons, three grandchildren, and one sister.
