Ronald G. (Ron) Maples, passed away on January 8, 2019. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Harold Ernest Maples and Pearle Cleone Gant Maples on November 29, 1933.
Ron graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 with a B.S. Degree in Geology (Boomer Sooner). He was commissioned in The U.S. Army in 1957, and completed reserve obligation with rank of Captain. He worked as a Geologist with Phillips Petroleum. Ron married Judy Groh July 5, 1958. They had two sons Steve and Mike Maples. Ron was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1959. He later retired from Southwestern Bell as Regional Manager on December 30, 1991.
After Judy’s passing in 2003, he found his life complete again when he married Nancy McGuire Harrison. Ron was very close to Nancy’s son Chad Mixon and grandson Conagher Mixon. Ron and Nancy travelled and shared good times and many good memories. 
Ron was involved in numerous community and social activities. He served as President of Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, Corpus Christi Navy League, Corpus Christi State School, Corpus Christi Symphony Society and Town Club. Ron was a member of Oklahoma University Alumni Association, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity Alumni Association, Telephone Pioneers of America, Corpus Christi Country Club, Corpus Christi Rotary Club, Corpus Christi Mustangs, Corpus Christi Yacht Club, and First United Methodist Church. 
Ron was an avid golfer, he loved the sport.
Ron is preceded in death by, his parents, and sister Bobby Winkler.
He is survived by his wife Nancy and her son Chad and grandson Conagher; by his sons, Steve (Gale) and their children Brett and Jason, Mike (Connie) and their children Taylor, Garrett and Carley; his sister Patti (Chuck Dahlem), cousins Chris and Beth Ridley, and other relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be private at Seaside Memorial Park.
