Ronald Howard Cope of Palm Coast, FL, passed away peacefully the morning of January 7, 2019, at Stuart Meyer Hospice House. He was born on January 14, 1933 in Wadsworth, OH, a son to the late Howard J. and Catherine P. Long Cope.
Ron proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Ron worked for IBM for 30 years in Cleveland, OH; Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and Boca Raton, FL. At IBM, he was on the team that developed the personal computer and technology for the US Government to aid in the defense of our country. He also worked on many overseas projects with IBM in locations such as England, France, and Switzerland.
Ron had a wonderful sense of humor, loved dogs, snorkeling, camping and exploring the world around him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Carole Cope; three sons, Scott Cope of DeLand, FL, Paul Cope of Ormond Beach, FL, and Daniel Cope of Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Amy Snowden of Ponte Vedra, FL, and Allison Navarro of Brandon, FL; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations, 39 Old Kings Rd. North, Palm Coast with CH(LTC)(RET) Harry Gilman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. The family of Mr. Cope entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
