Michael Petersen, 63, of Kirkland passed away January 5, 2019. He was born November 2, 1955 in Elgin to Duane and Patricia (Walling) Petersen. Michael lived a minimalist life and enjoyed simple things. He was the kindest, gentlest, and most charitable soul. Michael loved sports, especially the Cubs and Bears. He is survived by his siblings, Pamela Scholer of Huntley, James (Shirley) Petersen of Rockford, Patrick (Joanne) Petersen of Hampshire, Diane Petersen of Dundee, Brian (Jeanette) Petersen of Syracuse, NY, Catherine (Arthur) Composano of South Elgin; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, Thomas. There will be a visitation from 10am to Noon on Saturday, January 12 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. A Graveside Service will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Marengo. Memorials may be made to JourneyCare Hospice at www.journeycare.org.
