After retirement Jack liked being outdoors. He took great pleasure working on his farm and gardening. Jack enjoyed traveling with his family and most of all “cruising” with his wife. Jack loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, William and Goldie (Lowe) Peters; daughter, Teresa Rutherford; siblings, Carl Peters and Shirley Peters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janet (Romaine) Peters; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Karen Peters, Loudon; Scott and Kelly Peters, Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddy Cathey, Carthage; grandchildren and spouses, Jeff and Carrie Cathey, Jason and Heather Cathey, Jared and Amy Cathey, Josh Cathey, Justin and Savannah Cathey, Christopher and Megan Peters, Kevin and Makalynn Peters, Dylan and Jo Peters, Jackson Peters, Henry Peters, Mattie and Christian Schuster and Kelly Rutherford; great grandchildren, Luke, Joey, Nolen, Rawley and Miles; sister, Gladys Hanawalt, Plano, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Services honoring Jack will be held 4 PM Saturday, January 12th at the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Hester officiating. A private interment will be held Sunday. Contributions in memory of Jack Peters may be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 N Weisgarber Rd, Knoxville, TN, 37909. The family will greet friends Saturday following the service at the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
