James Preston Shoemaker “Bub” was born October 29, 1936 to Charles Menville and Eva Humble Shoemaker. He went home to be with Jesus on January 8, 2019 at UK Hospital.

Survived by his wife- Shirley Shoemaker, son- Randy Shoemaker (Jerri) and daughter- Sandy Carter (Jerry), three grandchildren- Shane Shoemaker (Brandy), Chad Harrod, Chelsea Shoemaker, two great grandsons- Grant and Will Shoemaker, two sisters- Laura Bridgeman and Flora Lee Bryant (Wallace), and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Menville and Eva Shoemaker, brother- Charles Menville Shoemaker, Jr., and granddaughter- Lindsey Nicole Harrod.

He gave his life to Jesus as a young man and was a member of Elk Spring Baptist Church, later transferring to Mill Springs Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Mill Springs Christian Church or Gideon Bible Plan.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 11, 2018 between 10 am 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2018 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mill Springs Christian Church Cemetery.
