James Henry (Jink) Roney was born in Burlington Junction, MO to Charles Roney 1862-1936 and Annie Tobin 1868-1961 but the family moved to Oakes, ND in 1911 when he was 22 years old. In 1917, Jink was drafted into the army during World War I (received the UK Silver War Barge) for about a year until sent home in Oakes.
Jink married Mabel Elizabeth Malander 1888-1962 in Oakes, ND in 1919 and bought land a mile north of the home place (East of Oakes) and built a house and barn but 2 years later a storm destroyed both and Jink moved to Long Beach, California in 1926. In 1920 his first daughter Eileen Elizabeth Roney Irick 1920-2012 was born and in 1923 Elizabeth Lou Roney Roepke 1923-2007 was born.
Jink worked in oil fields, Dickfield Oil in Taft, CA, until his death in 1961, thus was not listed with family in 1940 census. His mother Annie Tobin Roney died in Feb of 1961 n Oakes, ND and Jink died a month later Mar 11,1961, age 71, and Mabel died a year later in 1962.
Both are buried in Westminster Memorial Park in CA.
