Donald Ray "Don" Cottrell, 72, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, August 27, 1946 in Blue America, Tennessee, he was the son of the late George Harrison Cottrell and the late Pat Dunivant Cottrell Hickerson. Mr. Cottrell was the the owner/operator of Cottrell Electric in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the Tennessee National Guard.
Funeral services for Mr. Cottrell will be held at 1:00 on Friday, January 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Robert Smith and Rev. Tim Fair. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee.
He is survived by one son, Barry Cottrell (Shari) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, George Cottrell (Diane) of Newbern, Tennessee; one sister, Janie Clements of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four step-grandchildren, Kasi Austin (Steve), Shayne Binkley (Lauren), Kelsea Koonce and Jenna Koonce; two step great-grandchildren, Ethan Austin and Eli Austin: one brother-in-law, Alton Winchester of Newbern, Tennessee and his friend and care-givers Beverley and Darryl Reed of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Katie Winchester, one brother-in-law, Clyde Clements and a great-grand-daughter, Hailee Kate Austin.
Pallbearers will be Barry Cottrell, Trevor Cottrell, Phillip Cottrell, Dillon Cottrell, Brad Purvis and Leonard Lee.
