Bobby Joe Norton, age 76 of Maxton passed away Monday, January 7, 2019.

Bobby was born November 9, 1942 in Robeson County, a son of the late Willie M. Norton and Alma McCumbee Norton. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. For his service and bravery, Bobby was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in the Vietnam War. He retired after many years of service from Woodard Industry. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. To his family, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

Bobby leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Linda Burns Norton of the home; son, Michael David Norton (Tammy) of Maxton and daughter, Wanda Norton Albright (Jim) of Laurinburg; brother, Levey Norton of Maxton; grandchildren, Jessica Norton, Erin Reaves, Michael Norton (Cha), Andrew Albright; great grandchildren, Savannah Reaves, Beau Reaves and due in March, Abigail Norton. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Blease. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, St. Pauls, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
