Jackie Woods, 82, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home in Indian River.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. Pastor Rusty Chatfield will officiate. Jackie's family will receive friends from 2:30pm until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Indian River.
Jackie was born on May 28, 1933 in Tipton, MO. He was the son of Lancaster and Ola (Hayes) Woods. He grew up in Sedalia, MO where he attended school. He was a veteran of the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1961.
On Jan. 28, 1956 Jackie married the former Janice E. Cunningham in Dearborn Heights, MI where the couple made their home and raised their family. Jackie had been a millwright by trade and was employed through Millwright Local 1102 in Detroit, retiring in 1988. At that time Jackie and Janice moved to Indian River where they have been since. Jackie enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was a faithful member of the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife Janice; children, Kenneth Woods of Milford, MI, Juleen (Steven) Miller of Flatrock, MI; granddaughters, Alison Depriest of Newport, MI, Erin (Casey) Hassett of Kansas City, MO, Emma Miller of Flatrock, MI; great grandchildren, Riley and Beau; brothers, Loyal (Edee) Woods of Indian River, Dennis (Lois) Woods of Indian River; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Woods, B.J. Woods, Maxine Woods, Irene Milano, Lola Jenkins and Dental Woods.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church Mission Fund. Lintz Funeral Home in Indian River served the Woods family.
