John Lance Dickinson, 77, of Switzer, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his home.

He was born October 22, 1941 in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Freda Keeney Dickinson and Albron Pearson Dickinson. He is predeceased by his brother, Mark Dickinson and sister, Suzanne Dickinson Brown.

A graduate of Sherman High School, John served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Logan General Hospital. Family and friends have many fond memories of his humor, imagination, and antics. He was often referred to as Jorn, Trapper, Pops, or simply OB.

John is survived by his children, Angela Searls of Missouri, Loura Dickinson of New York, Allan Gonsher of New York, Samuel Dickinson (Stephanie) of Florida, and Joe Dickinson (Andrea) of Florida. Grandchildren Rachel and Adam Searls, Amanda, Allen, and Anthony Bartomeo, Christopher Regina, Taylor Gonsher, Cayla and Austin Dickinson, Danielle and Michael Dickinson. A sister Judy Dickinson Summers (Drew). Various nieces and his nephew, Rob Summers. His close family friend, Greg Castle and his dogs, Rocky and Gaby.

John was fond of his animals so the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Paws Squad, Logan County, 1412 Lincoln Highway, Chapmanville, WV 25508.
