Sidney Mathews Ward, Sr., 70, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, LA, passed away peacefully at 11:58 p.m. on Sunday, Janaury 6, 2019.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at New Rising Sun Baptist Church, 230 St. Charles St. in Houma. Burial will follow in Crescent Farm Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Druzella Williams Ward; sons, Sidney Ward, Jr. (Anh), Travis Ward (Anya), Nicholas Ward (Jamie) and Tedrick Ward; daughters, Ashley and Jasmyne Ward; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Bishop Joshua Ward (Martha), Major Randolph Ward (Irene) and Emile Sims (Sharon); stepbrother, Kermit Washington; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Louiser Davis Ward; foster parents, Rev. Eddie and Alberta Sims; brothers, Percy, Israel, Arthur and the Rev. Robert Ward; sisters, Louise Barnes, Dorothy Morris, Vearline Batiste, Sadie Thigpin and Evella Thompson; grandparents, Hezekiah and Emma Ward.
