Funeral services for Milton Murl Harris, 94, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God with Pastor Mike Matheny officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
Milton passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home in Lamesa. He was born February 29, 1924 in Jayton, TX to William Alex and Addie Alice (Smith) Harris. He married Roma Lee (Jones) Harris March 24, 1954 in Lordsburg, NM. She preceded him in death in 2001. He later married Dollie (Roundtree) Harris September 8, 2001 in Rankin, TX. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Milton was a bus driver for Greyhound and later Golden Gate Transit. He was a member at First Assembly of God where he served as a board member. He was highly respected at his church and by his family. He was a champion bowler and won many trophies throughout the years. He was a pilot and crop duster and he loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, and water skiing.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie Harris of Lamesa; children, Betty Pietkiewicz of Niagara Falls, NY, Linda Gilmore of Lubbock, and Terry Harris of Placerville, CA; stepchildren, Wesley Stanfield, and David Stanfield and wife, Carol all of Fort Gibson Lake, OK, and Elaine Gee and husband, Skip of San Angelo; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Milton is also preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ollie Page; son, Don Harris; sister, Marie Lauderdale; brother, Albert Harris; great-granddaughter, Audrey McGrew; great-grandson, Patrick Gilmore; and his first wife, Carabel (Lockett) Carter. The family suggests memorials to SAMS Ministries, PO Box 41, Roaring Springs, TX 79256.
