Martha Mae Marti (Davis) Sharp, age 70, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born on February 15, 1948, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford Richard and Alice (Rodabaugh) Davis.
Martha was raised in rural Eddyville and attended Bluff Creek Township country school, before transferring to Albia. She graduated from Albia High School, class of 1966. After high school, she attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Martha was united in marriage to Willfred Mathew Sharp III on March 17, 1972. They were blessed with two children, Michele and Cullen. Martha and Wil enjoyed 33 years of marriage, before his passing on October 20, 2005. Martha worked as a Paraeducator for 20 years and worked in the library at the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont High School. She also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator at Madrid Home. She enjoyed volunteering her time for various organizations and she was talented at craft work, especially painting and sewing. Marti loved reading and was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
Those left to cherish Marthas memory include her son, Cullen Sharp of Seattle, WA; daughter, Michele (Shawn) Smothers of Pella; two brothers, Richard (Marilyn) Davis of Ottumwa, and Don (Mary) Davis of River Falls, WI; and two grandchildren, Finley and Jaeda. Martha was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, beginning at 2:00 P.M. Marthas family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Lynda Carlson and Rev. Stanley Rodabaugh officiating. Burial services will follow at the Cuba Cemetery of rural Monroe County. A luncheon will be held at the First Christian Church of Albia, Iowa, following burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Marthas memory to the Eddyville Elementary School District and the Eddyville Public Library.
