Karen McKay Palmer, 85, passed away on Monday December 31, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on November 13, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to A. Vincen and Dora Mayhew McKay. She grew up in Ogden, graduated from Weber State College, and married George Palmer in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 22, 1954.

She started her family in Ogden before moving to Bothell, WA. From there Karen and George moved their family to Littleton, CO then to Placentia, CA before retiring in South Jordan, UT. Karen enjoyed being back near family and friends along with her growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2015 Karen and George moved to Colorado Springs to be near a couple of their children.

Karen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served on a Service Mission at the LDS Conference Center and also worked in the South Jordan Temple.

Karen enjoyed raising her children, painting, baking, scrapbooking, photography, sewing (including quilt making and crocheting), and being creative with many craft projects.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Debra West of Chandler, AZ and Melanie McAllister of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Mark Palmer of Colorado Springs, CO; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, with another on the way; brother, Richard McKay and sister, Marianne McKay both of Roy UT. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Palmer; her parents, A. Vincen and Dora McKay; her daughter, Pam Randall; and brother, David McKay.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
