Joy was a 1965 graduate of Ridgemont High School. After high school she attended the Ohio State Beauty Academy. She had worked at First Lady Salon, Regis Salon and Cheryl's Salon. Joy then became a baker working at Mello-Creme Donuts and then Ray's Supermarket. At the end of her career she became a stay at home childcare provider. She loved to read and work word search.
Joy is survived by her son: Bryan (Jessica) Shepherd of Lima, OH, a sister in-law, Karen Musser of Berkley Springs, WV, a sister in-law, Carolyn Hefner of Lima, OH, a sister in-law, Betty (Chester) Cheney of Lima, OH, a brother in-law, Bill (Deb) Shepherd of Lima, OH, a sister in-law, Gloria Shepherd of Lima, OH, a brother in-law, Joe Gilroy of Waynesfield, OH and a close friend, Mary (Ronald Coy) Neth-Coy of Lima, OH. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Nathan A. Shepherd, a brother, Alvin Musser, a sister in-law, Donna Gilroy and a brother in-law, Carl (Janice) Shepherd.
There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12 noon at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Burkhart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veteran's of America, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of donor's choice.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
