Spc. Smallwood of Trumann, Ark., was a graduate of Trumann High School where he was an all-around good guy who enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing running back on the school's football team throughout high school. He was a good student and a typical teenager, but he never got in any trouble. And he was well-known for his sense of humor, always doing something to make people laugh. He died from injuries he sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle at age 23.
