Daniel Bishop "Dan" Hodges, resident of Franklin County, went to be with his Lord and Savior and to fellowship with his father, mother, brother and mother-in-law on May 27, 2007. He was born to the late Raymond Marshall and Addie Dickerson Hodges on May 21, 1929. Also preceding him in death is his twin brother, Donald Bernard Hodges and beloved mother-in-law, Margaret A. Creasy. Dan was a devoted husband, "the love of her life" to Delores Ann (Dee) Hodges, for 57 years. He was a wonderful, loving father. A man of few words, a big heart and a lover of nature, he dearly loved his home, family, bird Petie and Jack the neighborhood dog. Dan worked for Merita Bakery for 20 years, until they closed the Roanoke plant. He was then employed at Save A Stop for another 20 years. He retired in 1994 from Advance Auto. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Sandee Schutts and husband, Don, Daniel Steven Hodges and wife, Liz and Douglas Earl Hodges and wife Charla. He was blessed with six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a great-grandson, Daniel Christian, due in September. Also surviving are his older brother, Raymond Marshall Hodges Jr. and wife Lois; sister-in-law Betty Cormany East and many nieces, nephews and cousins, who all loved him dearly. Also left to cherish his memory are his church family from Franklin Memorial Baptist. Visitation for friends and loved ones will be Monday, May 28, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at 12 p.m., at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount.
