Rev. Murray was born in Robeson County on May 16, 1942, a son of the late Thomas Murray and Mary Graye.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Wilma Dean (Nusie) Murray; a son, Danny Ray Murray; and a grandson, Brandon Jack Murray.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Point Baptist Church with Rev. James Buddy Bullard officiating. Burial will follow in New Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy and Sonya Murray of Lumberton, and Terry and Melissa Murray of Lumberton; two daughters, Jan and Anthony of Fairmont, and Jean and Roy Locklear of Lumberton; three sisters, Betty Strickland of Cerro Gordo, Katie Johnson (Boyd) of Mullins, S.C., and Ernestine Strickland (Andy) of Nichols; a brother, Horace Murray (Teresa) of Lake View, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.
