Miss Patricia Elizabeth Purcell, 82, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, in Elberton.

An Elberton native, “Pat” was a longtime resident of Atlanta. She was a lifelong learner who earned several master degrees, enjoyed traveling, reading, and music. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her brother, James E. and Carolyn Purcell; nieces and nephew: Lisa and Charles Worley, Jeffery and Julie Johnson, Julia and Chad Brown, and Lauren and Russ Harris; great-nieces and nephews: Chrissy and Chad House, Brittany and Trent Wilkes, Samantha and Michael Cornell, Cale Worley, Caroline Johnson, Branson Harris, Camden Harris, Grant Brown, Landrum Brown, and Elliott Brown; and many friends near and far.

She is preceded in death by her father, C.E. Purcell; mother, Mildred Elizabeth Bell Purcell Thornton; step-father, O.B. Thornton, Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Russell Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at 4 o’clock on Monday, January 7, at Stinchcomb United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim McCollough officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
