Age 84, formerly of Girard and Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Joseph R. and Iona F. Mitchell Kerr. Following high school, Bertha attended and graduated from Frankford Hospital, in Philadelphia, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She began her employment at various hospitals, retiring in 1996. Bertha enjoyed needlework, crocheting, cooking, and her furbabies Cooper and Murphy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Ward, whom she married March 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, also by a sister, Joan Blackburn.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Getz (Charles), Celia F. Chesnick, and Mary L. Ward; a stepdaughter, Sharon Evans; a stepson, David Ward; two sisters, Edith Woodruff and Pauline Roche; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
