Wayne F. Allmon was born in Wichita, Kansas, on October 26, 1919. He was adopted two days before he was three years old. His name was changed from Harry Baker to Wayne Fellow Allmon. His new father was a Friends (Quaker) Minister. In that home that had bible study and prayer time each morning before breakfast.

Wayne attended Friends Bible Academy in Haviland, KS. After becoming a pastor, he took Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey at the International Baptist Bible Institute in El Paso, Texas.

He served in the Army during World War II as a cook in a 1,000-bed general hospital in Panama. Wayne also belonged to the Pan American Roller Skating Club and performed for the USO. After returning home to Emporia, KS, he met Laura Marie Varner and they were married September 12, 1946.

In 1953, Wayne surrendered to preach, and was known for several years as a preaching Deacon. In 1963, he was ordained to the Gospel ministry by the Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell, New Mexico. Wayne pastored churches in New Mexico for several years, and then moved to El Paso, TX to pastor the Lakeside Baptist Church. While there he helped the church to start two missions in Juarez, Mexico. He remained at Lakeside for 13 years, and then moved across town to Skyline Baptist Church where he was pastor until he retired.

While in El Paso he was active in Associational work as Chairman of the Mission Committee, and the Border Missions Committee for several years. He also served on other committees.

When he retired in 1985, he moved back to New Mexico and pastored a small church for two years and then became a volunteer Chaplain for Roswell Correctional Center, close to Roswell, NM. He served as Chaplain for 11 years. During that time he helped to build a chapel for the inmates to attend while in prison. The chapel is named the Allmon-Morris Chapel. Wayne retired as Chaplain at the age of 80.

Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Curtis DeWayne Allmon. Survived by his wife Laura M. Allmon, his daughter-in-law, Debbie Allmon; Eric, his wife, Jennifer of Austin, TX; Chris, his wife, Yunsun of Dallas, TX; Dave of Santa Clara, California; a daughter, Lavon Lilja, her husband, Paul of Castle Rock, Colorado and their three children; Deanne Thebret, and her husband Tim of Rousemount, Minnesota; Keri Brinton, and her husband Jason of Port Orchard, Washington; Scott Lilja and his wife Kathryn of Denver, CO; five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
