Louie was the youngest of 5 children. An unparalleled work ethic, he grew up in Sioux City, working at Albertsons grocers until he joined the Air Force in 1943. Before shipping out to the Philippines, he married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Maxine Haskins. After serving his country in World War II, he returned home to work for his brother as a bartender. In 1954 Maxine and Louie relocated to Kent, Washington. Here he became a proud business owner, running a tavern with his brother-in-law John Taylor.
A devout family man, Louie and Maxine raised three children. He enjoyed gatherings with his family, camping, and fishing. Over the years he appreciated his time spent golfing, gardening, and raising cattle. In his retirement he adored watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their various sports and activities. Louie was the patriarch of the family who demonstrated a quiet strength, mischievous sense of humor, and devotion to his family.
Louie is preceded in death by the love of his life, Maxine and four siblings. He is survived by his children Richard Ford (Barbara), Sharon Schatzer (James), and Jeffrey Ford (Sheryl), four grandchildren, Kayla Donovan (Sean), Adam Brown (Sarah), Lauren Ford, and Marie Ford, and great-grandchildren, Reiley, Landon, Keira, Remington, and Maverick, and sister-in-law, Betty Taylor.
He will be remembered for his generosity, affability and kindness towards others. Louie was a man of strong faith and one of the most honorable men among men.
