He was the son of the late Walter L. and Metta Alice Daughtry Roberts. He was married to Tulline Rice Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his wife; three sisters, Rachel Roberts Keane, Jennie Louise Roberts Blaszak, and Joyce Roberts; and two brothers, Dr. Harold Ross Roberts and James Daniel Roberts. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, American Theater Campaign Medal, Phi Liphine Liberation Rainbow with two Bronze Service Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He is survived by two daughters, Pennie Roberts Christian and Patricia Roberts Causey (Brent); four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
