Billie E. Allen, 88, of Columbus, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Brown County Health and Living.
Billie was born February 9, 1930, in Westport, Indiana, the son of Guy and Lucille Wasson Allen. On May 6, 1967, he married Maerene Campbell.
Mr. Allen served in the United States Army. He worked at Saps Bakery for twenty years and then went on to work as a machinist at Reliance Electric for another thirty-three years. Following his retirement, Billie was a truck driver for Forester Electric. He loved fishing, hunting and cutting wood. Camping at Relco Park was one of his favorite things to do. He had a heart for animals, especially his pomapoo dog, Bootsie.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maerene; children, Barb (Ken) Stough of Seymour, Teresa (Ron) Pheral of Paris Crossing, Greg (Tessa) Allen of Columbus, Brian (Kelli) Allen of Nashville, TN.; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Don Allen; sisters, Velma Irwin and Janet Allen.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12;00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at New Bellsville Cemetery in Brown County.∼Preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Lucille (Wasson) Allen; son, Don Allen; sisters, Velma Irwin and Janet Allen.
Survived by his wife, four children, and eight grandchildren.
