Laura Jean Hollis, age 60, of Alma passed Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was a native of Chattooga County, Georgia, but had live in Alma most of her life. Jean was daughter of the late Giles L. Tallent, Sr and preceded in death by a son, David Treat and daughter Ginger Vernon. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Hollis of Alma; mother, June Wilson; three sons, Ricky Vernon, Charlie Vernon and wife Carrie, Stacy Treat and wife Christy all of Alma; one daughter, Kristy Wilson and husband James of Nicholls; step daughter, Pearlie Ann Watkins and husband Brent of Waycross; one brother, Giles L. Tallent, Jr. and wife Shari of Alma. Twelve grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 11, from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver and Rev. Donnie Rigdon officiating. Interment followed in Mims Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were: Jerry Davis, Bo Worth, Marcus Ricketson, David Jump, Stanley Stone and Mike Justice. All others in attendance were considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
