Leonard C. Hamilton Sr. (L.H. or Leon) a resident of Montgomery, AL expired December 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 from Piney Grove Baptist Church, Shorter, AL. Interment in Kindle Cemetery. He was born to Eddie and Sallie Hamilton on July 19, 1929 into a Christian home in Montgomery, Alabama. He was one of 12 children. In April 1950, he married Julia Mae Brown with whom he shared the next 68 loving years.
He was called to pastor Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served for 47 years. He was also the pastor of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he served for 42 years. He faithfully and tirelessly served at both churches with his wife by his side until his death. Leonard was a loving husband and selfless father. He was an entrepreneur who owned the Hayneville Road Vault Co for over 60 years. He was a highly respected businessman.
Pastor Hamilton was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Hamilton Jr. and nine of his siblings James, Virginia, Sylvester, Hattie, Arthur, Amanda, Eddie Jr, William, and Gainsey. He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory his loving wife, Julia; One son, Rev Dr. Darryl Hamilton (Yvonne) Pike Road, AL; Six daughters: Clementine McCall Montgomery, AL, Linda E. Hill (Robert) Montgomery, AL, Danita R. Phillips (Johnny) Springfield, VA, LaDonna E. McDaniel Millbrook, AL, Tammye L. Jackson (Cornelius) Prattville, AL, Leondra L. Gilbert (Sean) Montgomery, AL; One brother, Phillip Hamilton (Jeanette) Chicago, IL; One sister, Lorraine Ellis Montgomery, AL; Seventeen Grandchildren; Four great grandchildren; One God Daughter; 4 God Grandchildren and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to funeral services. Family hour will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 from the Chapel of Ross-Clayton Funeral Home.
