Rick and his family moved andhe resided in Springfield since childhood. He graduated from Glendale High School in 1967 and attended Drury College. He worked at Buss’s Causal Wear then was a store manager for Har-bel Athletics. He then became an insurance agent specializing in life and group benefit plans.
He was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church and very active in serving there including being a lay leader at one time.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte VanHouden and husband, Mike and their four children, Joshua, Caleb, Tyler and Rebekah of Madison, AL; his brother, Steve Aliber and wife, Nancy of Leawood, KS; niece, Nicole Lee Fisher and husband, David of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Matthew Todd Aliber of Leawood, KS, and a cousin, Barbara Reed of Springfield.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar. Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
