George Carroll Cain was born on January 2, 1890, in Sugartown, (Calcasieu Parish) Louisiana, his father, Richard, was 28 and his mother, Josephine, was 23. He married Lela Bell Whitaker on October 16, 1918. He died on August 17, 1966, in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the age of 76, and was buried in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Coushatta, Louisiana.
