Mrs. Carolyn Royal Sweeney, age 79, went home to be the Lord on Tuesday July 12, 2016 at Beacon Place.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.
Mrs. Sweeney, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, served along- side her husband, Dr. James Sweeney, for 56 years as a pastor’s wife. She was a 1955 graduate of Bessemer High School, and attended Central Carolina Community College where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. She retired from Burlington Industries with 20 years of service, and also retired from Sears with 18 years of service.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her children Rev. Warren Sweeney and wife Cheryl of Greensboro, and Michele Barker and husband Jack of Staley, NC.; sisters Janis Hunter and husband Roger of Pleasant Garden, and Betty Joe Cook and husband Phil of Greensboro. Also surviving are four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am-11:00 am Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church.
