Nancy Mullen Nichols, 75, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Sebrell Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, January 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service in Flora Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.for family and close friends.

Mrs. Nichols was born on September 27, 1943 in Phillip, MS the daughter of the late Vernon Burns Mullen and Rosa Lee Carr Mullen. A longtime resident of the Jackson area, She was a dedicated, compassionate foster mom to hundreds of children through the MS Children’s Home Society. She also worked on the assembly line at Packard Electric. Mrs. Nichols was an avid supporter of her children’s sporting activities. Known as a spitfire, she kept her children in line using her ever present “outside voice” yet she never turned away anyone in need including over 250 foster children. She liked to bowl and was presented many trophies honoring her skill. Mrs. Nichols had a zeal for life and immeasurable wit. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Forest Hill Church of God of Prophecy.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Elmer Doyle Nichols, siblings, John Paul Mullen, Charles Mullen, Rosemary Roever, Joe Dan Mullen, and Vernon Lee Mullen.

Survivors include: son, Steve Nichols of Jackson; son, Timothy Nichols of Canton; daughters, Lisa Frascogna and husband Pat of Madison; Amy Nichols of Pearl; Patty Barrera and husband Joseph of Pontiac, IL and Heather Humer and husband Brian of Flowood; grandchildren, Franco Frascogna, Connor Reames, Channing Reames, Brooks Reames, Paul Nichols and wife Jamie, Dade Smith, Rosaleah Nichols, Chloe and Lyric Humer, Joshua Jones (honorary grandson) and great grandchildren, Reagan and Jason Nichols. She is also survived by brother, Jimmy Mullen and wife Pam of Jackson and sisters, Lavera Clark of Flora and Terry Mullen of Ridgeland.
