JoAnn Robinson was born in New Orleans, LA on February 8, 1942 to Roscoe Robinson and Bessie Samuels.

JoAnn was affectionately called “Mully” by her late brother George Robinson and “Jo” by others.

JoAnn was a strong, kind, loving woman who never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others.

She attended public schools in New Orleans. After dropping out of school she secured employment at a popular nightclub called the Dew Drop Inn where she met the love of her life, Earl King. Other employers were Flint Goodridge Hospital, Majestic Funeral Home, McKenzie Bakery and cleaning offices. Her last employment was with M&M Healthcare Services taking care of the elderly which she talked about returning to before becoming ill. She has also cared for family members in her home; her grandmother Annie Neylon, her eldest brother, Frank Scott; her step-father, Leo Jackson Sr. and her cousin, Menthie Moolshan. JoAnn enjoyed going to Casinos and the race track in her leisure time. She also enjoyed R&B and Blues music and singers like Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, the Temptations and other Motown singers. She attended concerts with her children and friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Robinson and Bessie Samuels Jackson; brothers, Frank Scott and George Robinson; grandmother, Annie Gibson Neylon and the late Isaiah Samuel; uncle, Ernest Samuel; aunts, Thelma McClain and Richardstein Torrence; nephew Wayne Robinson, niece Sharon Scott, cousins, Clement, Menthie Moolshan, Ronald McClain and Linda.

She is survived by her daughter, Demitres Carriere (Leo); son, Erroll Johnson (Karen); sister, Virginia Smith, Oakland, CA; brother, Leo Jackson, Jr. (Yolander); grandsons, Erroll Johnson, Jr, Aaron Johnson and Jachai Johnson; granddaughters, Kourtnee Carriere, Kya Johnson, D’Aunjanee and L’Aunjanee Carriere; great grandson, Elijah Johnson; aunt, Mamie Thompson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Interment: Resthaven Cemetery.
