Larry Eugene Peters, 86, of Cherry Valley, IL died peacefully Monday, December 31, from natural causes and age.

He was born May 7, 1932 in La Porte City, IA, son of Esther (Edmonds) and Louie Peters. He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1950 where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1956 and received an Honorable Discharge. He married Lucille ‘Lucy” Kacher on April 4, 1956. They were married for 36-years until her passing in 1992. He spent most of his life living and working in Waterloo, IA. He worked for the Rath Packing Company for 28-years (1956 to 1984) and as an independent custom drapery installer. He also worked at K & P Pattern Company as a handyman for several years.

For the past six years, he lived with his children in Cherry Valley, IL. While living in Waterloo, he was a member of Blessed Sacrament parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Rita Council 7624 in Rockford, IL. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing cards. He also loved to play with the family dogs, Charley and Dixie.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Presence Cor Mariae Center and Northern Illinois Hospice for their care of Larry.

Survived by: son, Jeff Peters (Teresa) of Cherry Valley, IL; daughter, Angela Peters of Loves Park, IL; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Nashville, TN) and Madelynn (Cherry Valley, IL); two sisters, Pat Sparks (La Porte City, IA) and Velda Brown (North Aurora, IL); and a brother Ronnie (La Porte City, IA).

Preceded in death by: his wife, Lucille; his parents, Esther & Louie; two brothers, Laverne and Jerry.

Services: 10:30 am Saturday, January 12 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterloo, with a Rosary at 9:00 am with visitation following until the time of Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church. Larry will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet cemetery with his wife Lucille.
