Tommy Duke Butler III, 78, passed away on Jan. 4, 2019 in Houston.

Tommy was born on Dec. 8, 1940 to Duke and Edwina Butler in Brownwood.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Jo Butler; his two sons, Brad (Lisa) of Pearland, and Chad (Kristina) of Wharton; and his grandchildren, Victoria, Juliet, Duke, Lincoln, Aidrey, and Jolie, who were the lights of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Edwina Butler who were both from Brownwood.

He was a native of Brownwood but resided in Pearland.

Tommy attended Brownwood High School where he was a football and basketball standout. He played basketball at Oklahoma State University, then went on to finish his collegiate career as a baseball player with the fighting Texas Aggies. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1963 with a degree in Business Administration and was an avid Aggie fan. He was a Pharmaceutical Representative for Dow Chemical for 32 years where he received the President's Pen for his outstanding service. He was both a member and president of the Brownwood School board. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Brownwood for many years, and a Thursday volunteer at New Hope Church in Pearland. Most importantly, Tommy was a loving father and a devoted family man. He took great joy in caring for his wife, watching both of his sons' coach football, and spending time with his grandchildren.
