Laura "Doodle-Bug" Lee Poe, 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away January 3, 2019. She was born April 15, 1952 to Lloyd and Emma Whitley; one of two children.

A lifetime Indianapolis resident who claimed "growing old is for the birds", Doodle is best remembered as a woman full of spirit.

She built a beautiful life with her husband James "Bud" Poe, raising their only child, Julie. In 2005, after 37 wonderful years of marriage, Bud passed away; solace can be found in knowing they are reunited.

Doodle worked as an item processor for Old National Bank Lockbox, loved collecting cookbooks and sharing recipes, and was known for her signature fried cabbage.

She loved taking family vacations with her daughter's family, had an incredibly sharp memory, and will always be remembered for her beautiful, infectious laugh.

She loved being a Mamaw and completely adored her only grandchild, Dylan.

Her daughter, Julie, will always remember how mom deemed herself a "tough old bird" and how she rallied in her last hours on earth to bring her family peace.

Doodle is preceded in death by husband, James "Bud" Poe; parents, Lloyd and Emma; brother, Edward Smith.

Surviving to cherish her memory are daughter, Julie (Joe) Wolfe; grandson, Dylan; sisters-in-law, Marianne and Diana; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of extended family members and friends who were more like family; and her three beloved cats, Momma, Minnie, and Jinx.
