Judy Murphy, 56, of Bonita Springs died around December 25, 2018. Judy was born in Bensalem, PA on December 9, 1962. She attended Bensalem High School and Trenton State College where she obtained her degree in Music Education. She also received a degree in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College. She was a gifted musician and loved to share her talents with others through teaching. She had taught music in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida for many years. Judy had taught voice, piano and guitar.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Brzoza, and her siblings, Diane (Joseph) Rouse, Marie (David) Morrison, Joseph Brzoza Jr, Edward (Vicki) Brzoza, and Larry Brzoza. She is also survived by two nieces, Patricia Dalton and Hannah Brzoza, and three nephews, Michael Rouse, Andrew Rouse, and Chase Brzoza, and her Godmother, Betty Brzoza.

She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Brzoza Sr., her niece, Valerie Mapes, and her grandparents, Roman & Mary Brzoza and Maks & Elizabeth Guzinski.

Judy was an intelligent, deeply caring, talented person. Pain and depression robbed her of her wonderful potential. She was unfortunately saddled with pain from a back injury and that contributed to her battle with pain medication abuse and depression. We would hope that all reading this will feel compassion for anyone who suffers from these illnesses.

As a young musician she was invited to do a performance at Carnegie Hall and she and her family were very proud of this. She was the only one of her siblings to ever get a four-year college education and she had been continuing her education before her struggles became too difficult. She loved her students and she was never more proud of them as when there was a recital. She had recently done a student recital with some of these students at Hope Lutheran Church and was happy for their success.

Judy’s greatest joy was her autistic brother, Joey. She loved to make him smile by spending time with him, singing and listening to 45s of music from the 1950s and 1960s. The level of patience and love she displayed with him was amazing.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church, 25999 Old 41 Road in Bonita Springs, FL at 11:30 am.

Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to Café of Life by going to https://cafeoflife.org/donate-page/ or to SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc of New Jersey where her beloved brother receives services. Those donations may be directed to the SERV Foundation, 20 Scotch Road, 3rd Floor, Ewing, NJ 08628.

May Judy now rest in peace in the arms of our Lord. Encourage those struggling with depression and addiction to seek treatment and to keep trying… one day at a time. Recovery is possible.
