Sarah Lynn Simmons, 63, Gas City, passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion to the late Howard Dean and Martha G. (Blackburn) Simmons, Sr., on September 24, 1955.
Sarah was employed in the cafeteria with Pioneer College Catering on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She also loved reading, playing Euchre, and having coffee with her sisters.
She is survived by her son, Nate “Wade” Simmons, Marion; daughter, Heather Simmons, Gas City; son-in-law, Michael Tyler; daughter-in-law, Lisa Jacksen, Geneva; grandchildren, Maria, Gabbey, and Zachary Simmons, and Josiah Tyler; great-grandchild, Amyra; brother, Howard Dean (Lisa) Simmons, Jr., IL; and sisters, Loretta K. Merrill, Gas City, Susan Thomas, Marion, Peggy Uriostegui, Marion, Lisa (Randy) Harlan, Marion, and Lois Bricker, Marion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Joshua Dean “JD” Simmons; grandmother, Elsie Blackburn; and grandparents, Fred and Ruth Simmons.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, Sarah’s funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery
