Eva Mae (Pugh) Terry, of Newburgh, IN formerly of Francisco, Indiana passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born in Francisco in Gibson County to the late Robert (Hoyt) and Fannie (Burns) Pugh on April 23, 1928. She had four brothers, Edward, Samuel, Claude, and Richard, whom all served in WWII; three sisters, Florence, LaVerne and Drucie.
She was a 1947 graduate of Francisco High School. In September of 1948, Eva married the love of her life, James D. Terry. During their 57 years of marriage they had four children. Eva served as a gray lady at their school and was a member of the PTA.
In 1978, Jim and Eva moved to Hillsboro, Wisconsin where they resided for ten years. As the winters grew colder they moved to Palestine, IL where they joined the Palestine Pilgrim Holiness Church. Eva loved to sing and spend time quilting. She made beautiful quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.
In 1998, Jim and Eva moved back to Francisco where Eva continued to live for a few years after the death of her husband in December 2005.
In 2011, Eva moved to Atria Assisted Living in Newburgh, Indiana where she resided with her older sister LaVerne for two years. Eventually Eva was moved to Newburgh Healthcare on Pollack Avenue where she resided until the time of her death.
Eva is survived by her children Shelia Strunk of Princeton, Nedra (Danny) Dillon of Francisco, and Jim (Beth) Terry of North Vernon. Seven grandchildren Stephanie (Dave) Harrison of Chandler, Curt (Laura) Dillon of Frankfort, KY, Kim (Steve) Heldt of Francisco, Amy (Matt) Deno of Elizabethtown, KY, Abby Dillon of Oakland City, Aaron (Lark) Terry of Early, TX, and Missy (Wesley) Lum of Baumholder, Germany; twenty-one great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Terry; their infant daughter, Claudette; as well as her brothers and sisters.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2018 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, Indiana with burial in Providence Cemetery in Francisco.
