Jim Mitchell, 74, of Johnston City, passed away 1:15 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with his loving family by his side.

Jim was born November 21, 1944 in West Frankfort to L. Grant & Jeannette (Ozment) Mitchell. He married Jean Marie “Jeannie” Duvall on March 17, 1989 in Paducah.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country honorably.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Mitchell.

Celebration of life service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the First Christian Church (1001 S. Cherry Street in West Frankfort) with Tim Uhles, Bryan Harris and Jason Tanner officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Marion VFW Post 1301 and members of the Illinois National Guard Military Honors Team concluding the services at the church.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

In honor of his request his cremains will be scattered at a later date near the Pine Ridge Scout Camp in Jackson County.
