Eunice Velma Sanders, 82, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Canterbury Center, Shepherdstown.

Born Aug. 21, 1936, in Austin, Texas, she was the daughter of Herman Poore and Wilma (McKinney) Poore.

Mrs. Sanders was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her kids.

She was a member of Cross Point Church of God.

She went to the Jefferson County Council on Aging.

Eunice was very artistically inclined and was blessed with a “green thumb”. She loved her garden and the extensive variety of flowers she tended to every season. She loved horses and she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry S. Kirk and husband, Dennis and Wendy S. Munden, all of Charles Town; son, Larry Sanders and wife, Cubby, of Charles Town; grandchildren, Julie Weatherholtz, Amber Hildebrant and Aaron Munden; great-grandchildren, Madison Weatherholtz, Kasey Hildebrant and Michael Hildebrant; sister, Rita Wierzbicki and husband, Bruno, of Houston, Texas; and brother, Pat Poore, of Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Marvin L. Sanders, who died Feb. 24, 2005; son, Michael L. Sanders; sister, Virginia Walters; and three brothers, David Lee Poore, Carrol Poore and Jimmy Poore.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with Dr. Henry Christie officiating.
