He was married on November 9, 1899 to Emma Septemma "Seppy" Miller (1874–1901), the daughter of Isaac Johnson Miller (1842–1898) and Nancy Ann (Johnson) Miller (1844–1903).
A retired railroad company clerk and living at 2204 8th Avenue South in Nashville, Charles was 77 years old and a widower when he died at home of a coronary thrombosis on April 30, 1947. Burial was on May 2nd in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
