James Paul Brumfield, (JP), of Houston, TX, passed away on 1 January 2019 in his place of residence at the ripe age of 90 years old. JP was born on 6 December 1928 in Bogalusa, LA where his parents James Dudley Brumfield and Hazel King Brumfield resided.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Fumiko Oya Brumfield "Mickey" of Nagoya, Japan and their four (4) children, Angela Brumfield Haynes and husband Jerry (predeceased) of Minden, LA, Laura Brumfield Barnes and husband, Jack of Shreveport, LA, James Dudley Brumfield II and wife Kimberly, of Baton Rouge, LA and Steven Wayne Brumfield and wife Terri of Houston, TX. JP had an abundance of grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Ronny Leazer III and wife Michelle, Jerry Haynes, Jr. and wife Madison, Angel Haynes, Amber Haynes Mandino and husband Wesley, David Jacobs, Allison Barnes North and husband Jon-Bayan, James Paul Brumfield II and wife Samantha, Melissa Brumfield (predeceased), Natalie Brumfield and John Brumfield and wife Ashley. Within their children, JP had 20 great-grandchildren whom he also loved with all his heart. He has three (3) surviving sisters, Carolyn Brumfield Henderson and husband Roy, Eva Wayne Brumfield Timbrook and husband David (predeceased) and Peggy Brumfield Hudson and husband Charlie. JP has one (1) sister, Winne Nell Brumfield Querbes, that preceded his death.

JP served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1968 as a Communications Specialists and served in multiple duty stations thoughout the United States, overseas and is also Vietnam Veteran. After his stint in the Air Force, he retired as a Technical Sergeant and moved his family to Bossier City, LA where he worked as a manager in several businesses. In 1977 after his children graduated from high school, JP and Mickey picked up their belongings and moved to Houston, TX where he worked as a Petroleum Landman for the next 30 plus years. JP loved to read, work crossword puzzles, work, and travel. Reluctantly, he retired at the young age of 80. One thing that JP prided himself over was the non-existent use of receiving his news from the internet. He still received the Houston Chronicle and read each page from the first to the last page.

The Brumfield family would like to thank Season's Hospice for their continued service and loving kindness to JP and Mickey during his final days. JP's wittiness, sarcasm, wisdom and love will be truly missed by his family and friends. Rest in Peace dad!!
